Your Hootsuite dashboard should be a main part of your independent marketing strategy. Here’s how to use it to connect with people on Twitter

For those of you that don’t know, Hootsuite is a social media management platform that allows you to manage your Facebook, twitter, Instagram and even Linked in accounts from one place. You can share and schedule posts across all these platforms which we can’t stress enough is so useful for anybody who struggles to keep up with posting on social media.

It really does take the headache out of social media and actually makes it enjoyable. Maybe it’s the layout or the intuitive interface but every time I log in to my Hootsuite dashboard I get a little excited. Also, every time I log in, I feel like there’s something new to learn.

Monitor Conversations

One cool feature we discovered recently and wanted to share with you is the ability to find and engage in conversations on Twitter. Using the search box and placing your search term between quotation marks “”, you can pull up a list of conversations that mention that exact term.

Not only that, the Hootsuite dashboard will allow you create a tab for any searches you to so you can always be aware of conversations containing your specific search terms.

For example, if you want to find people who will accept your music, then you would search for “submit your music” or “we want your music” in the search box and it will bring up a list of all the Titter posts with those exact terms in them. This allows you to follow, reply or otherwise interact with the people that you want to.

This one feature on your Hootsuite dashboard can open up so many opportunities for you and is only limited by your imagination on what terms you start searching for. Everyday is another opportunity.

P.S. Hootsuite should definitely be added to the list of 5 things DIY musicians need to know how to do.
